Mentors/Business Coaches
Description: Business coaches are part-time, volunteered mentors who work with individual entrepreneurs in the United States Youth Commerce program. A typical caseload will vary between 10-20 entrepreneurs. However, this might be adjusted based on number of entrepreneurs in the program and changes in program services. Business coaches focus on supporting and improving their entrepreneur’s business.
Social Media Officer
Description: Many job seekers have been using social media regularly, but having accounts on social networking sites or having great interest in a social media officer position alone will NOT qualify a candidate for the position. The challenge for candidates is how they can convince their potential employers that they are able to leverage the power of social media in business.
- Must be will to work with 13-25 year olds
- Position is volunteer but may become paid at a later date
- Post three posts a week on USYCC’s Facebook, Twitter, Focus and LinkedIn accounts
- Work to increase following on social networking sites
- Engage followers in discussions
- Work closely with Chamber CEO
The ideal candidate will possess
- A degree in PR, Social Media, English or related field
- Two years of experience
- Excellent spelling and grammar skills
- Basic HTML & Web Design Skills
Web Designer
Description: The U.S. Youth Chamber of Commerce is looking for someone to help revamp our website and design a new logo for our NPO. We are also looking for someone who can help our new UK chapter build a site. Web designers are responsible for the layout, visual appearance and usability of a website. This role may overlap with that of a multimedia programmer and web architect. Using a combination of graphic design skills and technical knowledge of how web pages are created, the work involves:
- producing a design that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required;
- writing web pages in a combination of codes, such as HTML and XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ActionScript, ColdFusion, .Net, Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver and Visual Studio;
- deciding on how images and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web;
- ensuring that material on the web site is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities;
- testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions;
- fixing errors
All designers must have training in computer graphics packages such as Dream weaver, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Paint Shop Pro as well as knowledge of Flash, XML-based web applications and programming, XHTML programming, and other web development languages and technologies. The designer should also be comfortable working with a variety of operating systems such as Windows, Macintosh, and Unix. Since computer technology changes rapidly, web designers must constantly stay abreast of new developments in graphics software packages as well as those in the World Wide Web and related technologies. The HTML Writers Guild offers web training and a certification program. There are four web study certification levels offered: Web Technologies, Web Programming, Web Graphics and Multimedia, and Web Business. Students must pass the web study courses before obtaining certification.

Grant Writer
Description
Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in the areas of Education, Technology Transfer, Energy and Business Incubation.
Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills. The candidate must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. Previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding opportunities, comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.
Active Board Members
Description
The United States Youth Chamber of Commerce is looking to recruit active Board members who are able to give two hours of volunteer time each month to a membership organization that is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship and civic engagement in 13-25 year old entrepreneurs, to encourage the highest and noblest form of professionalism, and to aid the community in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status by continuing the message of change through action. Must also be active in using email.

It is expected that each board member attend meetings and other board functions; serves on at least one committee; is a spokesperson and an advocate for our program; uses their professional skills and expertise in the service of our program; serves as a source of advice and support for our program’s Executive Director; becomes informed about our program’s financial situation and makes responsible decisions on the organization’s behalf. Board members are required to raise and or donate at least $150 per year) All donations are tax-deductible

Program Officer, U.S. Youth Chamber of Commerce Youth Entrepreneurship Academy
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the CEO, the Program: Officer will take over the following duties:
a. Design the youth-to-youth leadership/business educational programs
b. Develop workshops and fundraisers, apply for grants and funding programs
c. Organize information seminars and capacity building workshops for potential applicants
d. Coordinate selection of grantees ensuring a transparent and competitive selection
e. Monitor implementation of selected projects in cooperation with national youth officers
f. Participate in the mobilization of sponsors to co-fund the
USYCC fund of the programs
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications: Advanced university degree in economics, social sciences or a related field
Experience: At least four years of progressive experience in the field of development cooperation with a strong focus on youth employment, of which at least two years is at the international level. Demonstrated technical expertise in managing grant schemes or challenge funds in developing countries. Experience in cooperating with youth organizations would be an advantage.
Skills: Good knowledge of project cycle management, especially of monitoring tools; capacity to provide first-line technical advice; excellent organizational skills; ability to coordinate training and knowledge sharing events; excellent writing, communication and presentation skills; strong relational skills are needed to ensure coordination of a network with partners from different sectors and countries; very solid knowledge of finance and administration.
Languages: Excellent command of English is a requirement; able to read and write in Spanish is desirable.
